I just got a 333xl infinium head off eBay. Plugged it all up and started messing with it. about 15 minutes into it it blew. The mains fuse and after testing, 3/4 power tubes had shorts. (the worst one was the first tube in the line, it actually was showing a bad short, the other two were shorted but the light was pretty dim..)
After scratching my head a bit and looking into things, I have to assume that a couple conditions had been going on- #1 I didn't try to reseat the tubes like I should have #2 I actually get 120 - 122 VAC coming off my outlet.
#3 While I am in good contact with the seller, he is unsure how long ago he replaced the tubes, but assured me that this model has a pretty good history of blowing mains fuses. He ordered several sets as he has a few of these particular heads.
What concerns me is why it burnt out. Was it to much power off the wall and the fuse just couldn't handle it?
Was that fist power tube the worst one of the quad and just coincidentally burnt up and allowing the fuse to blow?
I would love any input from others who have this amp.
